Meet Our Teachers:
Welcome!
Hello! My name is Maria Castro, and I am so excited to be your child's 2nd Grade English Language Arts (ELA) teacher this year!
This is my fourth year of teaching, and I began my career in 2nd grade, making this grade level especially meaningful to me. It is a pivotal year in every child's reading journey, and I feel honored to help my students build the confidence, skills, and love of reading that will support them for years to come.
I hold a Bachelor's degree in English Education and am passionate about helping students grow both academically and personally. My goal is to create a safe, engaging, and nurturing classroom where every child feels valued, supported, encouraged, and inspired to learn each day.
Throughout the year, students will participate in meaningful learning experiences that challenge them to think critically, persevere through new challenges, collaborate with others, and become confident readers and writers. Above all, I hope to foster a lifelong love of learning while celebrating each child's unique strengths and accomplishments.
I believe that a strong partnership between home and school is essential to every student's success, and I look forward to working together with your family throughout the year.
I can't wait to make this an incredible year filled with learning, growth, and memorable experiences. Welcome to our classroom—I am so excited to have you as part of our class family!
Warm regards,
Mrs. Maria Castro
