The Arts are an indispensable part of a total education, necessary to maintain a balanced lifestyle. The Arts are fundamental to human growth and provide students with intellectual, creative and emotional experiences that allow them to relate to the other core subjects.
The Arts serve to build self-confidence through personal expression and communication; encouraging students to use their imagination, flexibility and creativity in problem solving.
These areas of the curriculum provide students with the knowledge, skills and processes to be aesthetically educated. They inculcate responsibility and empathy as well as skills such as aesthetic appreciation, creativity, patience, concentration and teamwork.
To create a learning environment that inspires and fosters excellence in the performing and expressive arts, we aim:
to provide comprehensive arts experiences;
to empower all students with the relevant knowledge and skills;
to enrich their understanding of themselves and the world;
to embrace the potential of the arts education for communication, social cohesion, celebration and creativity.
We see the Arts as a continuous learning experience in life. Our approach emphasizes the need to exercise empathy and respect for the arts from global cultures.
We offer a curriculum which recognizes individual abilities, promotes diversity and encourages community involvement.
Opportunities are provided for students to appreciate, analyse, reflect, create and perform in the arts through traditional and contemporary approaches.
Learning & appreciation of the arts take place through diversified, collaborative and interdisciplinary exposure, experience and excursion to develop our students holistically. There are regular opportunities to observe and work with peers from other schools as well as with tertiary students and professional practitioners.
