Elizabeth Kane has been teaching for 8 years. This will be her third year teaching 2nd grade at Dickson. Originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan (but really all over), she received her undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies and Communications from Eckerd College, and a Dual Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education from Teachers College, Columbia University - she is certified in birth through 8th grade. During her free time Elizabeth practices yoga, makes jewelry, hikes, gardens, and researches her next favorite craft / hobby. She is sorry to miss the beginning of the school year but looks forward to connecting with all of her students upon her return !
I’m Pat Bruder. I’m happy (and surprised) to say that my 22+ years of teaching have all been right here at Dickson. I grew up in New Jersey and came to this wonderful part of the world to attend Warren Wilson College. After some years of travel and multiple jobs, I went to UNCA to become a K-6 teacher. I live waaaay up in the NW corner of Buncombe County with my husband Dave, our lab Tracker, our cat Blake, and about a bazillion bees. Some of my favorite free time activities include reading, hiking, and gardening. I’m very much looking forward to learning lots with your children this year!
Hello,
I'm Gwendoyn Smith Stokley. I am an Asheville native. I attended college in Lexington, Mississippi and Mars Hill University. I've been an educator in the Asheville City Schools for 35 years. My husband and I have 3 adult children and 8 grandchildren. Often I'm asked the question, "Why are you still teaching"? My reply, "I have a God-given gift to love and teach children, and I love it"!
