It was a blast :)

Through our economics unit, the students have been participating in a project where they became entrepreneurs! They have created their own company, business plan, product design, and pitch to present to investors just like on Shark Tank! We then reenacted the TV show where kids had the chance to play both roles. They did an incredible job asking relevant questions, using the vocabulary, and explaining their decisions for being in or out!

In science the students have been learning about the three types of rocks: igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic. These are classified by how they are formed and it can be tricky for the kids to remember the characteristics of each. So, we do edible rock investigations to solidify their understanding! This week, students used heat and pressure to mimic metamorphic rocks using Starbursts! It ROCKED :) Thank you again to all families who donated materials and we are looking forward to our next hands-on investigation!

Week Eighteen: January 10th-January 14th
Snow days, 2 hour delays, and district closings...oh my! This was a week of many unexpected schedule changes which didn't leave much time to take pictures :) One thing we really enjoyed this week was reading the science fiction story, "All Summer in a Day" by Ray Bradbury and then watching the movie to compare the events and our own visualizations! I encourage you to talk to your child about the story (which you can read here) and even watch the videos if you are interested!
The students went around and said something that they liked or appreciated about her :)

Week Sixteen: December 13th-December 17th
This week I have to SHOW OFF and BRAG about some AMAZING student work!! They have been working so hard on two separate ELA projects: Evidence Organizer Project and Informative Heart Essay. Please read about those tasks below!
The students chose a topic that they were interested in, read a nonfiction book about it, and then filled out an evidence organizer to describe the main idea and supporting details. After that, they used technology to create a product to demonstrate their knowledge about their topic. They either created a series of videos using Flipgrid, or a webpage using Adobe Spark. Check out their beautiful projects at the link HERE!
The students have been working since the beginning of the school year to understand what it means to have a literal and figurative great heart. They have explored various texts such as The Circulatory Story and Love That Dog to build their knowledge about these ideas. They took all of that information and wrote a four paragraph essay to demonstrate their understanding. You can review their impressive essays at the link HERE!

Then, students thought about what love meant to them and designed a 3D printed representation online! Check out their beautiful creations below :)
Week Twelve: November 8th-November 12th
These kids are working hard in fourth grade and they have a lot of assignments to keep up with. To support them with this, they have some additional time every few weeks to either ¨ketchup¨ on missing work or ¨pick¨ an activity to do if they don´t! We had such a productive (and silly) week in fourth grade!
The students are doing a great job of putting first things first and then always making time for fun!
Since it isn´t a normal year and we could not do meet the teacher inside of the school, we thought it would be a good idea to give you a little tour of our classroom/home away from home :)
