Community

We work hard to keep the Media Center a safe, welcoming learning space where students can create, work, research, explore, and relax. In addition to collaborating with teachers, we provide support as needed to individual students.

We provided training and guidance to student teachers regarding how technology is impacting education.

The Media Center was host to all the SILSA ePortfolio presentations and Graduation Project Presentations. Community members were welcomed into the Media Center as judges for these presentations.

We share experiences, tools, and advice with new teachers to help them develop strategies and lessons using technology and media. We also shared best practices and practical insight in the use of technology in the classroom.

AHS and SILSA are important meeting places for the community. We host everything from Genius: the Game author Leopoldo Gout to tutoring programs to churches. All of these community organizations need a level of support to meet their needs. From answering questions about our schools to providing technical support, Media Specialists and the Digital Lead Teacher are the resource for meeting these needs.

At community forums and parent orientations we communicated the state of technology in education and on our campuses. We provided parents and community stakeholders with information regarding the use of technology on our campus and offer suggestions as to monitoring the use of technology at home.

Parents are in need of a great deal of guidance with their children regarding technology. Media Specialists and the Digital Lead Teacher help parents and community members make informed decisions regarding technology and their children. We provide guidance on topics that range from social media to human sexuality. We work with parents and community members to help bring understanding to the changes technology is making in our culture.
