The Daily Five

General Assignments to Complete Each Day

1. Accelerated Reading

Daily Assignment: Read AR books (from the school library, our classroom library, or the digital sources below) that are within your current reading range.

Time Per Day: 30 minutes

Weekly Goal: Progress 10% toward your trimesterly AR goal by taking & passing AR quizzes by the end of each school week.

Long-Term Goal: Complete 100% of your current AR goal before the end of the trimester.

Be Prepared: Access digital books from Epic Books, MyOn Books, or the Anaheim Public Library through Project ACES.

2. ST Math

Daily Assignment: Play ST Math (JiJi Math) puzzles to build your understanding of math concepts and to improve your math problem solving skills.

Time Per Day: 10 - 15 minutes

Weekly Goal: Progress about 3% toward the year-long ST Math goal by the end of each school week.

Long-Term Goal: Complete 33% of ST Math by early November, 67% by early March, and 100% by the end of May.

Be Prepared: Go through the Student Portal at myacsd.us to access the program. Make sure to save your progress.

3. Khan Academy

Daily Assignment: Complete the math assignments with at least 70% accuracy, and work on the 3rd Grade Course Mastery on Khan Academy.

Time Per Day: 15 minutes

Weekly Goal: Progress about 3% toward the year-long 3rd Grade Course Mastery goal by the end of each school week.

Long-Term Goal: Master 33% of the year's goal by early November, 67% by early March, and 100% by the end of May.

Be Prepared: Go back to past assignments that you did not complete with 100% mastery, or choose other 3rd grade math exercises and try them out.

4. Cursive Writing

Daily Assignment: Practice your cursive legibility on lined paper.

Time Per Day: 5 minutes

Weekly Goal: Legibly write and connect 2 or more letters.

Long-Term Goal: Legibly and fluidly write the Pledge of Allegiance in under 5 minutes by early June.

Be Prepared: Bring some lined paper home to have on hand and use this digital cursive resource.

5. Typing Practice

Daily Assignment: Practice your typing accuracy and speed on typetastic.com.

Time Per Day: 5 minutes

Weekly Goal: Build both your accuracy and speed with each activity.

Long-Term Goal: Complete the K-2 Units by November, Upper Elementary Units by March, and Middle & High Units by June.

Be Prepared: Access the website through the link (typetastic.com) or through the Student Portal.
