About the Project
In this introductory unit, Grade 5 students explored how artists across history have portrayed cats in unique and expressive ways. They experimented with gestural mark making, layering, and playful drawing exercises to develop their own interpretations. This project was designed not only as a creative exploration but also as a way to build confidence in drawing and artistic expression.
Why Cats?
The unit connects to The Basboos Project, a local community initiative dedicated to improving the lives of street and stray cats through the TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) method. By creating and auctioning these artworks, students are helping raise awareness and support for this meaningful cause.
The Auction
Each artwork reflects a student’s creative journey and personal interpretation of cats. Proceeds from this auction will contribute to Basboos’s ongoing efforts in caring for and protecting stray cats in our community.
Auction is now closed!
