Earn & Learn
The Allegany County Apprenticeship Maryland Program (AMP) is a collaboration of efforts between Allegany County Public Schools, Maryland Department of Labor, and local employers who are coming together to give the students in Allegany College new opportunities to earn and learn.
This program is open to juniors and seniors in all three comprehensive high schools in Allegany County as well as the Center for Career & Technical Education. Students select from job descriptions listed by our employer partners, complete an application packet, and submit referrals through their guidance office to apply for their desired positions. Employers interview qualified students and hire based on the interview process, application completion and relevant academic qualifications. The 450 hour apprenticeship program will teach students industry specific skills, provide hands-on and real-work experience, while also increasing interpersonal and social skills as they apply to the world of work. Students receive three high school credits applied towards graduation for the work component and will receive one credit for course related instruction.
