Principals Supporting the CA NGSS

This principal professional learning series is comprised of 5 modules designed to support site leaders with the implementation of the California Next Generation Science Standards (CA NGSS). There is increasing urgency for administrators to embrace and support implementation of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS Lead States, 2013). These new standards provide opportunities for all students to learn science and 21st century skills, helping them become college and career ready. Because teachers look to administrators for consent and encouragement to try out the substantial pedagogical and logistical shifts required, the success of the new standards depends on the expertise and support of administrators.

The development team included the following partners and science leaders that drew from their collective expertise in leading for science reform and broadly from the research community. The California Partnership for Math and Science Education selected this team to develop this resource and the S.D. Bechtel, Jr. Foundation provided the funding.
