Prof Leong is a highly accomplished individual with a distinguished career spanning both academia and government service. He holds a Bachelor, Masters and Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
He is currently an Associate Professor of Computer Science at the National University of Singapore. His dedication to education has been recognised with numerous teaching awards, including the NUS Annual Teaching Excellence Award on several occasions and the NUS Outstanding Educator Award in 2015.
Beyond academia, Prof Leong has made significant contributions within the Singaporean government. As the director of MOE's Experimental Systems & Technology Laboratory from 2014 to 2019, he led efforts at MOE to deploy technology to improve operational efficiency and shape the future of learning. Notably, among the systems that he oversaw were the development and deployment of the SLS and SCMobile.
Currently, he is also serving as the Director of the AI Centre for Education Technologies, Director of the Centre for Computing for Social Good & Philanthropy and Chief Data Officer of AI.SG.
Prof Chen currently serves as the Head of the Learning Sciences and Assessment Academic Group at the National Institute of Education (NIE). Her research interests include Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning (CSCL), learning analytics, AI for education, and mobile learning, and how these technologies can be used on transforming and enhancing teaching and learning practices.
