CADD

Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) Overview: Over the next four years, students will learn fundamentals to advanced skills in the use of state of the art software found in the drafting and design industry. Students in this program learn crucial skills necessary for employment in fields of architecture, civil engineering, electrical engineering, structural engineering, mechanical engineering, surveying, landscape design, construction and other related areas. Students will be taught software fundamentals focused upon Architectural Drafting, Architectural Desktop, Revit Architecture, Auto-CADD and 3-D Studio Max. Students will also be introduced to the field of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Global Positioning Systems (GPS). Upon completion of the program, students can earn an OSHA 10 Certification, a high school diploma, Revit Certification, and will qualify to seek employment as an entry level draftsperson or continue their advanced studies in engineering and/or architecture design. Upon completion of these courses, students will be eligible for entry level employment or are prepared to enter the workforce.

CADD I

Grade: 9

Credit: 10

Prerequisite: None

This course begins with the introduction to fundamental drawing techniques and Auto Desk CAD drafting software, updated each year. Students will learn technical and mechanical drawing and basic drawing commands in AutoCAD. In addition, students will be introduced to architecture as well as the history and styles of architecture. Students are taught the fundamentals of Architectural Drafting along with the latest software. This course will introduce the student to the field of Computer Aided Drafting and Design.

CADD II

Grade: 10

Credit: 10

Prerequisite: CADD I

Students are introduced to the fundamental principles of site design, site planning, zoning regulations, and zoning ordinances that are applied to site design and site planning. Students will learn how to create and prepare site details used in basic engineering drawings. In addition, students will be introduced to the field of Geographic Information System (GIS), remote sensing and Global Positioning Systems (GPS) using basic map-making software and techniques. Students also will learn how to interview for employment and basic resume writing.

CADD III

Grade: 11

Credit: 10

Prerequisite: CADD II

Students learn how to apply AutoCAD tools to Commercial Drawings and are introduced to building codes and written specifications. Students will work on design of a commercial site that will include a building as well as a site plan.

CADD IV

Grade: 12

Credit: 10

Prerequisite: CADD III

This course requires students to apply the CADD skills that have been acquired over the past three years. This course culminates in a design project that will incorporate Engineering, Architecture, and GIS and construct a detailed model of the project. Students will present their final project, which incorporates the use of technology, and writing and speaking skills.
