Step ONE. All Student need their OWN FSA ID accounts. Parents also need THEIR own FSA account, but can use the same account for all of their children. Parents MUST sign their student's FAFSA application if claiming that student as a dependent on their tax return.

Step TWO. Student fills out the FAFSA Application, beginning October 1st of the year prior to attending college. The will need the previous year's tax return for parent and student (if applicable) to fill out the application.
Example: If student is applying for aid to attend college in the fall of 2021, they need to fill out the application beginning in October of 2020. They will use 2019's tax returns to do so.
