Virtual Tutoring Options:

While schools are remote, parents/guardians are searching for ways to support their scholars through this time. There are a number of free or low cost options for regular virtual tutoring that you can take advantage of. Sifting through them can be difficult and often it’s unclear what the experiences will be like. Therefore, we’ve compiled a list of tutoring programs that meet the following criteria that we believe can provide some support for your scholar through summer while school is not in session:

  • Free or low cost

  • Provides a consistent tutor

  • Provides a higher frequency of 2+ times a week for 1-2 hours

  • Provides one-on-one or small group tutoring

If you need support in setting up the services, please reach out to Team Special services at tutoring@achievementfirst.org.

what are our 7th grade habits right now

  1. Top Quality Work Submission: In order for student grades to be strong, work needs to be submitted DAILY by 8 PM and complete meeting all directions and criteria for the task.

  2. Self-Advocacy: It's crucial for student ownership of their learning to reach out to teachers proactively about tech issues so it is not a barrier to learning and seek academic support by attending office hours or any additional time available. Grades from 7th grade are the grades that go to High Schools so it is imperative students are not letting grades slip!

  3. Be On Time for Class: The first step to learning is being present and on time. Students should be accounted for in each class, able to do any HW-related quiz or Do Now, and be fully prepared.

How Can You Support Your Child During Remote Learning?

If you prefer to speak on the phone with any teacher, please email them to get their phone contact info so they can follow up. All calls should be made before 6 PM to respect personal time with families and balance between work and home life. Some teachers may have different boundaries as everyone is in a different position given the remote nature of our worlds right now and staff members will communicate that to you if necessary.
