Why Summer Programs?

Achievement First University Prep serves Black and Latinx students from various neighborhoods in Brooklyn and Queens, NY. We believe all students, regardless of social economic background, should have access to high quality academics and professional training. When students have hands-on access to the daily routines of successful professionals and businesses, or take pre-college classes at universities across the country, it more accurately informs their investment in a career field, as well as the investment they have in their academic performance. Students also learn new social skills when interacting in multicultural environments, and learn to embody professionalism. Lastly, participation in summer programs help students learn about themselves, and stand out during the college application process.

*As an AF Scholar, participation in a summer program is mandatory (with the exception of summer 2020 and 2021)*
