CER

Claim: Lots of crushed cereal is wasted and thrown away each day due to poor packaging of this very popular product

Evidence: "Annual boxes of cereal sold - 2.7 billion." After testing, we found an average of 39 grams of crushed cereal in every bag. If we convert the grams to tons and multiply it by the amount of cereal boxes sold each year, you can assume that 73,083 tons of cereal is wasted each year. Furthermore, when we were collecting data it was noted that while we were shaking the boxes, the prototype did not make any noise while the "typical" box of cereal was very loud. When we poured out the cereal it showed us that the "typical" box of cereal created between 8 and 9 times more crumbs than our prototype, which makes people buy more cereal over time.

Reasoning: Tons of cereal is wasted every year in the form of crumbs at the bottom of the bag. When you look at the data, this translates to over 73,000 tons of wasted food from cereal alone. With improved packaging techniques, lost or wasted resources could be dramatically lowered.
