About Us

Launched in the Fall of 2022, the Tenderloin Science Project works to create new opportunities for kids in the Tenderloin to explore Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) igniting curiosity and forging connections through experiential hands-on learning.

This STEM Challenge website was done in partnership with the Tenderloin Community School. Each week, children receive weekly STEM Challenge kits to take home, sharing opportunities for families to participate in these various STEM challenges together across the month. However, the website lives on as a community resource, with rich learning resources to use far beyond the STEM Challenge month.

This program is a partnership between the Tenderloin Community School, and the R&D Impact Foundation, a San Francisco based philanthropy. We look forward to continuing to provide high engagement learning opportunities for children and the broader community of the Tenderloin.
