Drawing vs Sketching
In years past, creating formal engineering drawings-drafting- was done with Straight edge, T-Square, triangles, and compass:
Today, this is more commonly done with computer-aided drafting(CAD) software, such as SketchUp, Solidworks, Fusion 360, and OnShape.
To become proficient with these tools takes some time. In an engineering firm, CAD drafting is typically done by a professional draftsman.
However, one still needs to create sketches with the necessary information.
Sketching teaches one to carefully observe, to ask questions.
