3.1 What's New

Free Mentor Pairings for New Competitors in Acclive Leagues: New debaters in Grades 5+ pay the same fees as regular debaters, but may request up to two free partnerings with experienced debaters. Simply register for our tournaments; about one week after the tournament registration deadline, you will receive your experienced partner’s contact information. After that, the experienced student leader will lead, support, and guide debaters step by step—both before and throughout the tournament.

Free Tournaments for Experienced Debaters - Student Leadership Program [Team Captains]: Gold+ & selective. Experienced debaters have the opportunity to become Acclive League Student Leaders, partnering with and guiding new debaters. About one week after the tournament registration deadline, eligible students will be contacted if spots are available.

Certificates and Awards for All: Both new debaters & student leaders (free tournament recipients) have the same opportunities to earn debate level advancements and gift cards. Student leaders receive additional leadership certificates or gift cards.

3.2 Parent Judge Policies & Responsibilities

Payment: Parents who choose to serve as tournament judges will be paid $25 per round. For example, if you judge 5 rounds, your total compensation will be $125 ($25 × 5). Payment will be issued within 7 business days after the tournament concludes, provided there are no disputes, penalties, or other disciplinary issues involving the judge and the tournament.

Parent Judge Agreement

1) All parent judges agree to abide by the following Acclive policies:

Availability: Remain fully available and prepared to judge all divisions of the tournament to which the parent has committed (including PF, LD, Speech, etc.).

Professionalism: Always represent Acclive in a professional, respectful, and sportsmanlike manner.

Check-In: Follow all check-in procedures and deadlines established by the tournament host.

Devices: For synchronous divisions, the camera must remain ON, and audio must be fully functional throughout the round. 

RFDs: Submit a complete, detailed, and constructive written Reason for Decision (RFD) for every assigned round.

Bias Disclosure: Promptly disclose any known, potential, or newly developed bias or conflict of interest (COI) to the tournament host.

Ballots Due: Submit all ballots and required feedback in accordance with the tournament host’s deadlines and policies.

Disqualification: Any dispute, penalty, misconduct, rule violation, or other disciplinary incident involving the parent judge and the tournament may result in the permanent revocation of the judge’s eligibility to judge for Acclive.

2) Tournament Responsibilities:

I commit to fulfilling all judging responsibilities, policies, procedures, and assigned rounds required by the tournament I have selected, and I agree to comply with all applicable tournament rules and policies.

Penalty Policy

Parents are responsible for any fines, missed rounds, bias, misconduct, and/or violations of tournament rules.

1) Penalty from Acclive: A $250 fine, subject to 10% monthly interest on any unpaid balance, and removal of my child’s team from the tournament for EACH missed check-in, late ballot, or undisclosed conflict of interest (COI)/bias.

2) Penalty from the Tournament: I understand that I am also subject to any penalties, fines, sanctions, or other consequences imposed by the tournament in accordance with its policies and rules.

2) Learn: how to judge PF, LD, OO Speech, and Humorous Interpretation.

3) Apply: then complete the Judge Application Form below.

Note: Application results will be announced 10 days prior to the tournament. Submit one form per tournament. Parent judges are currently permitted for National Tournaments only.

3.3 After Tournament Registration

After your order is completed: pairing details, partner information, and the tournament folder will send to competitors approximately one week after registration closes.
