Opens October 1. FAFSA stands for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. It's a free application form provided by the U.S. Department of Education that students complete to apply for federal student aid for college, including grants, work-study funds, and federal loans. Students and parents both register for an FSA ID and complete a portion of the application that relates to their income from the last income tax filing period. By completing the FAFSA form, you can access the largest source of financial aid to help pay for higher education costs. Completion of the FAFSA or submission of a waiver (available in the spring) is a graduation requirement in the state of Alabama.
CCR
Remember that all seniors must earn a CCR (College and Career Readiness Indicator) in order to graduate. See your counselor if you are uncertain of your current CCR status.
