College Match Program
posted 8/26/25
Alabama has partnered with the Match organization to provide an opportunity for seniors to be considered for automatic admission to 18 four-year colleges and 23 community colleges across the state of Alabama (and more outside the state) without even having to apply!
Here's how it works:
1. Students complete their Match Profile no later than September 23.
2. The school uploads transcripts for everyone who has completed a Match Profile.
3. Admission and merit scholarship offers are sent to students on October 6 (first day of free college application week)
4. Students accept as many offers as they would like (it's non-binding) so that they get official acceptance packages from the college. This step is mandatory, or the offer goes away.
Notes:
You don't have to worry about uploading your transcript--Mrs. McGee will do that for everyone who completes a profile. You won't be able to "publish" your profile if you don't upload a transcript or self-report grades, but that's OK--if everything is complete except transcripts, it will automatically publish when they attach the transcript I send them to your profile.
They recommend that anyone with an ACT score of 18 or higher includes that information in their profile. You do not have to upload anything for this yet--you will send your official score to the college you choose to attend.
I recommend using your personal email address, as you will lose access to the ACBOE email at graduation. This may mean that you won't be able to access your Match account while at school, but it's going to be better for your access in the long run.
It will ask you where you've already applied AND where you are most interested in attending. Answer both fully, as it can only help.
It will ask you if you're interested in being considered by out-of-state schools. If you say "yes," you will get those offers later in October.
If the college you are most interested in isn't on the list below (e.g. AU, UA, UAB), feel free to apply to those colleges now or to wait for Free College Application Week. If the application is free all the time, I would do it now!
Essentially, by submitting your Match Profile, you do not have to apply to any of the colleges listed below until offers are released on October 6. Then, if you don't get an offer from your "dream school," you can still apply to that school using the traditional application process!
There is a $5,000 scholarship drawing for everyone who completes their profile by 9/23/25

QuestBridge Could Be a Life-Changing Opportunity 🎓
As a school counselor, one of the most rewarding parts of my job is helping students discover opportunities they didn’t even know existed. If you’re a high-achieving student from a low-income background, I want to personally encourage you to look into the QuestBridge National College Match.
QuestBridge is a prestigious program that connects exceptional students with some of the top colleges and universities in the country — with the possibility of receiving a full four-year scholarship that covers tuition, room & board, books, travel, and more.
💡 Why I recommend QuestBridge:
✅ It removes financial barriers to elite higher education
✅ It opens doors to schools like Stanford, Princeton, Yale, MIT, and more
✅ It builds a community of driven, supportive scholars
✅ Even students who don’t “match” often gain admission with strong aid packages
This isn’t just another scholarship — it’s a pathway to an entirely different future. If you’ve taken rigorous courses, maintained a strong GPA, and come from a family with financial need, I strongly encourage you to apply.
📅 The application is free and the deadline is 9/30/2025! Start preparing now— the essays and recommendations take time, but it’s worth it.
