ABOUT CITE-2026

Earth is the only known planet that supports life, a remarkable distinction arising from the dynamic interplay among its constitutive spheres viz. Atmosphere, Biosphere, Cryosphere, Geosphere, Hydrosphere and Magnetosphere. These spheres continuously exchange matter and energy, shaping the planet’s climate, landscapes, ecosystems, and resources. Their intricate interactions govern Earth’s habitability and resilience across spatial and temporal scales. Understanding these spheres individually and their coupling, not only in the present but throughout geological history, is essential for making informed decisions regarding the sustainable utilization of Earth’s resources and for expanding our understanding of planetary systems within and beyond our solar system.

Deciphering the Earth system requires an integrated approach that brings together multidisciplinary and multiscale data to unravel processes operating across interconnected spheres. Guided by this philosophy, the Department of Earth and Climate Science (ECS) at IISER Pune has been contributing to this endeavor over the past 12 years. Following the resounding success of CITE-2024, and as part of the celebrations marking the 20-year journey of excellence of IISER Pune, we are pleased to announce the Conference on Integrated Earth (CITE-2026), scheduled for 12–13 September 2026. 

We invite researchers, scholars, and students from diverse disciplines to contribute oral and poster presentations that explore, exchange, and discuss various aspects of the Earth system. Contributions are welcome under the broad thematic areas mentioned below.
