ELA & Social Studies
Greetings everyone and welcome to my class webpage!! My name is Allison Benoit, and I will be your child's ELA (Reading/Writing) and Social Studies teacher. I am so excited to have your child in my class and I am looking forward to working with you and your student. This will be my 12h year teaching 3rd grade at CPE and my 17th year of teaching! I have a passion for children as well as education, and I am pleased to be able to teach students in my hometown. I have one son, Hayden, who attended school at Church Point Elementary , and is a 2023 graduate of CPHS. My hobbies include spending time outdoors, gardening, cooking, reading, listening to music, playing fetch with my dog, Benji, and ofcourse spending time with family friends.
Education & Teaching Experience
I am a 2002 graduate of Church Point High School. I received my bachelor's degree in Child and Family Studies from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2007. Shortly after, I began substitute teaching in Acadia Parish. I became a Kindergarten classroom teacher in 2008-2009 at St. Francis Elementary in Iota. In 2012, I completed the University of Louisisana at Lafayette Alternate Teacher Certification Program and obtained my teaching certificate in Elementary Education. Throughout my years of teaching, I have experience working with children in grades K-8.
My Goals
I am looking forward to an exciting, yet challenging year filled with learning and discovery. My goal is to help each student become independent and creative thinkers, as well as life long learners and problem solvers. I also hope to instill in the motivation to learn and a love for reading, writing and history!
I believe that parent-teacher communication is extremely important. I feel that when teachers, parents and students communicate and express concerns in a positive manner, student academic achievement improves as well as student behavior. I value your students education and hope to help them grow. Working together, we can make a difference in your child's future!! I appreciate your support and involvement in helping your child receive the best school experience possible.
