My goal for this year is to guide students in adding to their learning foundation of thinking, reading, and writing skills to prepare them for a successful future.
About me
My name is Cherie Soileau. I taught for three years at the elementary level between 1998 - 2001. I taught at the middle school level from January 2014 until switching to elementary in 2021. This will be my fifth year back in elementary. I will be teaching 5th-grade Science and Social Studies. I am looking forward to helping students gain knowledge and skills to be successful in Science and Social Studies learning and activities. I am also believing that my students will grow and learn to love learning.

Mrs. Soileau's Expectations:
Students are to respect themselves and be responsible by following directions and completing assignments to the best of their ability.
Students are to verbally and physically respect themselves, each other, and ALL materials and property of others. The property of others should remain free of damage and vandalism.
Bullying and disrespect will not be tolerated.
It is important for children to read daily. Daily reading will be especially beneficial if they are reading both literature (fiction stories) and nonfiction material in the areas of Math, Social Studies, Science, Social Skills, life skills, and thinking skills. A child who reads outside of school will see more growth in learning and ability than students who do not. Therefore, nightly homework will be to read about what we are learning about in Science and Social Studies for at least 20 minutes daily and give specific details about what they have read either by telling someone or writing it down. Students need to think and talk about what is being learned in class to be more successful.
