This course is intended as an introduction to the topics of Aerospace Engineering and Flight Mechanics. It lays the foundations for understanding the relationship between different aerospace subsystems; aerodynamics, control, structure, and propulsion.
By the end of this course, the student will be able to:
Recognize the milestones in aerospace engineering history
Recognize the phenomenon of change in atmospheric physical properties
Identify basic elements of airfoils and other aerodynamic shapes
Identify the different elements of aircraft and spacecraft and their functions
Recognize basic elements of aircraft and spacecraft performance
Evaluate basic aerodynamic characteristics of aircraft
Evaluate performance characteristics of aerospace vehicles
Identify different types of aerospace propulsion systems
Use a programming tool to produce simple programs for the course calculations
