Mrs. Fernandez

Mrs. Fernandez holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish and Literature and has over 15 years of experience teaching Spanish. She is proud to begin her second year at Academir Preparatory High School, where she is dedicated to creating an engaging and supportive learning environment that inspires students to develop their Spanish language skills and appreciation for Hispanic cultures.

Mrs. Caicedo

Hello, everyone! My name is Carolina Caicedo, and I am excited to begin my second year at Academir. I have 17 years of experience in education. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and am a certified Business Education teacher. Last year, I had the opportunity to teach business courses focused on technology, financial, career skills, and professional communication.

As a teacher, I am passionate about helping students develop the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills they need for their future. My goal is to create a positive, engaging, and supportive classroom where every student feels encouraged to learn and succeed.

I believe that communication and collaboration between teachers, students, and families are essential. I look forward to getting to know all of you and working together to make this a successful and rewarding school year. Thank you!

Mrs. Beaty

Ms. Beaty’s professional Dance background includes extensive experience working with children and teens. Through Dance, Ms. Beaty encourages students to explore movement, technique, performance, and creative expression while building confidence and an appreciation for the performing arts. In Health & Fitness, she supports students in developing practical knowledge and skills that promote responsible decision making, personal wellness, and healthy lifestyle choices. Ms. Beaty is dedicated to helping students recognize their individual strengths, challenge themselves, and grow both academically and personally. She is committed to creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students of all experience levels can develop confidence, creativity, discipline, teamwork, self-expression, and healthy lifelong habits.

Mrs. Haggy

I'm a Visual Art Teacher with a passion for painting and enjoy inspiring students to explore their artistic abilities. Outside of teaching, I enjoy riding my bike, hiking in different states, and traveling to experience new places and cultures. I often find inspiration for my artwork in nature and the places I visit, and I enjoy bringing those experiences into my teaching and creative work.

Mr. Comfort

Micah Comfort is a Miami native and graduate of Miami Killian Senior High School. He earned his Master’s degree in Computer Science from Florida International University and is excited to bring his passion for technology and learning into the classroom. As the youngest of three children and the son of a former FIU professor, education has always played an important role in his life. Outside of the classroom, Micah enjoys photography, traveling, and exploring new places. He has traveled throughout Europe several times, with London holding a special place as his favorite city. He looks forward to sharing his enthusiasm for computer science, creativity, and problem-solving with his students.

I am a medical doctor and science educator entering my fifth year in the classroom, with experience teaching Biology, Chemistry, Physical Science, and Health and Medical sciences. I earned my M.D. from Ross University School of Medicine, M.S. in Biomedical Sciences from Liberty University, and dual B.S. degrees in Biology and Exercise Science from Florida State University. My broader professional experience includes clinical medicine, biomedical research, laboratory science, and academic leadership, which allows me to connect classroom learning with real-world applications. I am passionate about using my background in medicine, science, and education to prepare students for future careers in healthcare, medicine, research, and STEM.

Mr. Gonzalez Garcia has a Master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, a Bachelor's degree in Arts, and over five years of teaching experience. He is starting his third year at Academir Preparatory High School. He focuses on building a fun and helpful classroom where students can learn Spanish and explore Hispanic cultures.

Mr. Matus

With 10 years in education, I’m excited to begin another school year and celebrate my 7th year with AcadeMir Schools! This year is especially exciting as I begin my first full year as a Physical Education Coach and take on the opportunity to oversee all athletic programs at our school.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with an ESOL Endorsement from Florida International University (FIU) and am currently pursuing my Master’s Degree in Physical Education.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of coaching Boys’ Basketball, Boys’ and Girls’ Flag Football, and leading our Roaring Robots Robotics Team, where we proudly captured two state championships under my tutelage!

As we begin this new chapter, my goal is to build a strong athletic culture where students, parents, teachers, coaches, and our entire school community come together as one united team. I believe athletics are about more than competition—they’re about character, leadership, teamwork, perseverance, and creating opportunities for students to succeed.

I’m excited for a new year filled with energy, growth, teamwork, school pride, and plenty of Tiger spirit!
