About Me

Welcome students and parents to the 2023-2024 school year. My name is Ms. Duran and I will be your English Language Arts teacher this year. I am excited to start this school year with all of you. This is my first year teaching at ACSW and this is my second year teaching overall. I have my stronghold in History, with a Masters of Arts in History (Public History Track - which means I can work in museums, archives, historical societies, and other institutions like this), a Graduate Certificate in Museum Studies, and a Bachelor's of Arts in History. I look forward to engaging with all of you!

Abstract of Course Expectations

The focal point of the English Language Arts class is to develop reading, vocabulary, spelling, and writing skills. In addition to these important skills, we will be learning how to analytically and critically think within the framework of the class material, which will help them develop how to tackle complicated issues. Students will read and analyze different texts from the following time periods: Colonial and Early National, Romantic, Realism and Naturalism, Modernist, and Contemporary. Our learning target is to not only engage in the magic of reading, vocabulary, spelling, and writing, but to be engrossed with the Florida B.E.S.T Standards.

Calendar

Parents, please be advised that if you send an email or a message on Remind, there will be a 24-48 hour window for a response from my part. Thank you for your understanding on this matter.
