Stick-built roofs are constructed on site by roofing carpenters. They consist of battens over rafters that are supported on underpurlins and struts. The ceiling plane includes ceiling joists, hanging beams, strutting beams, and counter beams.
Roof truss is best described as a structural framework of timbers that’s designed to provide support for a roof. Trusses are prefabricated wooden structures. They’re also used to bridge the space above a room. They typically occur at regular intervals, and they’re linked by horizontal beams known as purlins.
