MOBILIZING THE CARING POWER OF COMMUNITY.

Historical and systemic racism drive racial inequities in our community. Not only has the COVID-19 crisis disproportionately impacted communities of color, the murders of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and so many other Black people elevated the national conversation around racism and racial justice. Recent attacks against our two Black school committee representatives brought this to the forefront of our community conversations in Acton and Boxborough.

It is against this backdrop that we’ve given much thought and intention to how we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy this year, and so we introduce A-B United Way's first MLK Day of Action Monday, January 18, 2021.

Our mission is to bring people together. We encourage you to engage, learn, act in the community, and both nourish and build authentic partnerships. Next year, we anticipate including in-person volunteer opportunities as an additional opportunity to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy.
