MinecraftEDU

What is MinecraftEDU?

Minecraft is a construction game, tasking players with either exploring worlds created by other players or letting them create their own. At their disposal are hundreds of different "blocks" which they can combine into different materials or devices. There are a variety of tools to help them build, too. Schools have been incorporating the EDU version of Minecraft because it enables them to assign tasks to students and track their progress. Students can work together to build shapes with a certain volume or perimeter, design a house that would fit a time period or culture, or create an in-game narrative complete with characters and plot. Honestly, there are endless possibilities! I have posted some examples and resources that might inspire you!

The Minecraft Survival Quest Challenge!

This is a Google doc with a huge list of challenges that students can complete in any order. They earn XP for challenges to gain more levels. You can work in your own reward system and create custom challenges and points to fit your class or club needs. Great for after-school clubs! Meet twice a week: the first day, all students work on a project you assign, for example something that can benefit the community. On the second day, you can let them set their own goals and use the Survival Guide.
