For Parents

3 Tips On How to Inspire A Love For Music:

1. Sing with them! Young children love to sing, in fact, it's very natural for them to make up songs frequently and use their singing voice. When they're older they tend to shy away from embarrassment. Many parents encourage their child to sing by singing with them before bedtime.

2. Attend concerts! Kids love to go to concerts to see their favorite pop stars or country singers, but there are all types of musical concerts and many of them are FREE! Check with your local colleges/universities or local symphony for these opportunities.

3. Get involved with private lessons! If you child is interested in music the best way to encourage them is to set up a time for them to spend one-on-one with a music teacher. Beginner piano lessons or violin lessons are commonly started with children in elementary school and can supplement their music education at school. Ask me for more information if you're interested in finding a private music teacher.
