Mrs. Cummings' Kinders 2021-2022

Welcome to Kindergarten!

This is my 24th year teaching kindergarten at Sylvan Elementary. It is exciting to see children develop throughout the year - becoming confident readers, writers, and mathematicians who can work collaboratively to solve problems. High expectations and engaging learning opportunities lead to independent and responsible learners. I strongly believe that parent involvement is an integral part of a successful school year. Please feel free to email me with any questions and/or concerns.

Digital Learning Resources for Students and Families

ABSS has created some resources to help you and your student. Click the picture to access the link.

Google Classroom

We will use Google Classroom as our digital learning platform across the district in grades K-5 this year. Your child will be using Google Classroom to guide his/her learning. Google Classroom is your all-in-one place for teaching and learning. Our easy-to-use and secure tool helps educators manage, measure, and enrich learning experiences. Click on the picture to access the link.

We will be using Clever to access all of the district programs. Some of the programs include Imagine Literacy, Imagine Math, and Learning a-z. Your child will be using these programs daily to guide his/her learning. Clever is an easy way for your child to log in and learn with all of the online programs they use at school. With their own personal portals, students can learn with resources selected by their teacher and district. Schools use Clever so students can have all of their digital resources in one place. Clever also eliminates the need to remember multiple usernames and passwords. Click the picture to get the link.

Your child will use Seesaw every day to practice and assess his/her learning. Seesaw gives your student the opportunity to demonstrate his/her knowledge of kindergarten standards. Seesaw is a platform for student engagement that inspires students of all ages to do their best, and saves teachers time! Students use creative tools to take pictures, draw, record videos and more to capture learning in a portfolio. Teachers find or create activities to share with students.

Class Dojo

I will be using Class Dojo in our classroom. ClassDojo is a school communication platform that teachers, students, and families use every day to build close-knit communities by sharing what's being learned in the classroom home through photos, videos, and messages. I will be sending an invite for you to connect on your smart phone.
