Grading Policy:
The grading policy in this class is really simple. The majority of your grade (50%) will come from how well you do on the art projects in this class. There will be several projects over the course of the class. Project grades are broken down equally into 4 different parts:
Following directions. Simply make sure you have covered all of the requirements for the project listed on the project handout, and you will get the points.
Creativity. This is means going beyond the bare minimum listed by the directions. Make the project your own, put your spin on it, and let you imagination shine!
Craftsmanship. Put effort into making your project the best it can be. This means things like making clean cuts, limiting excess glue, erasing stray pencil marks, etc.
Participation. This is the easiest set of points to get. Just show up to class and work hard. I would rather see a terrible project that you worked really hard on than a great project slapped together at the last minute.
After each project, you will be graded on the written reflections (35%) we will write at the end of each project. You will be provided with a list of questions to think about and answer in complete sentences. These reflections will allow you to explain your concepts and ideas with your audience (Mr. Wood,) as well as think about what aspect you like, and what you might do differently in the future. Be thoughtful in your answers. (“I made this because Mr. Wood told me too” is never a good answer.) Remember, a good reflection can help salvage a lousy project.
This final 15% of your grade will come form completing the various activities we do in class. These will include drawing exercises, games, and virtual fieldtrips
