There is a demand for skilled laboratory technicians, lab assistants, research assistants, and quality control technicians in Alamance County. With this increasing number of career opportunities, we have developed an educational career path for high school juniors and seniors. 

Students will be able to complete a Basic Laboratory Certificate through Alamance Community College. It would be their first step into the Biotechnology career field.

If you are interested in antibody production, DNA sequencing, cell cultures, or genetic engineering, this is a great pathway to begin your career.  

What Are the Requirements to Enter the Biotechnology Pathway?

Students interested in the Biotechnology Pathway will need to meet the following requirements:

Course Work Required for the Biotechnology Pathway?

Students will complete the following courses with a C or better:

Students will receive lab coats, goggles, supplies, books, and cost of tuition and fees

What are the Benefits of Completing the Biotechnology Pathway?

Once students have successfully completed all four college courses required for the Biotechnology Pathway, they will receive a certificate in Basic Laboratory Techniques. With additional courses at Alamance Community College, students will be also be able to receive an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Biotechnology.
