Student Teaching & Internships at Acton-Boxborough

Requirements

• Cooperating Teacher/Administrator - you must complete this Google Form and the information will be routed to Central Office/Human Resources to be reviewed and approved.

• Student Teacher/Intern - you must complete this Google Form and the information will be routed to Central Office/Human Resources to be reviewed and approved.

• Once the Form and related information has been submitted, reviewed and approved, the cooperating teacher will receive a confirmation from Central Office that the request has been approved.

Cooperating Teacher/Administrator

• Before filling out the Google Form, please confirm the following:

  • You have notified your building Principal and received their support/approval for hosting a student teacher/intern

    • Note for Special Education student teachers: please confirm that the Special Education Coordinator for your building has discussed the request with the building principal, and both of them support the placement of the student teacher at your school/with your program

  • You have consulted with your department head, program chairperson/coordinator and they have approved your request

• • • Important note for all District mental health providers (counselors, psychologists): you must first seek and gain approval from the building principal and your department head for any potential internship placements. For questions, please contact the appropriate grade level/role coordinator (listed below).

    • Important note for all Speech/Language Pathologist internships: all requests and placements are coordinated directly through the Chairperson; staff who may be interested in supporting an intern would be contacted directly by the Chairperson.     • Internships in OT/PT must be coordinated with Tammy Kucharski (tkucharski@abschools.org)

• You have completed the paperwork required from the teaching program/university

• If the student-teacher/intern will be providing direct instruction and/or services to students, you have planned to provide notification to the families of students who will be interacting with the student-teacher/intern.

• Your student teacher/intern has completed the paperwork and permissions required of them.

Student Teacher or Intern

Before filling out the Google Form, please confirm the following:

• You have completed the process for completing a CORI form through the main office of the school at AB where you will be placed. The CORI process/results must be completed before you can begin your time at Acton-Boxborough. Please allow for up to 3-7 days for the process to be completed.

• You have completed the fingerprinting process: for instructions, please click here and follow the outlined steps. Please allow for up to1-2 weeks for the results to be sent to Acton-Boxborough.

• You have reviewed the District policies that are included below (FERPA, Social Media, Staff Conduct, etc.)

• You have completed the paperwork from your teaching/graduate program and provided those to your cooperating teacher/practitioner
