Acquiring an instrument:
There will be no rental night for 2025. Instruments will simply be dropped off at your child's school 1-2 weeks after you make your reservation.
You are welcome to rent or acquire an instrument from any place you like. There are many wonderful local music stores in our area that sell and rent quality instruments. All rentals for our school district will be online this year and delivered to your child’s school.
ABRSD has worked with local vendors to determine suitable places to rent and purchase instruments. We highly recommend renting from one of our trusted local vendors (see below). Please do not purchase an instrument from an unknown vendor online, particularly one not specializing in musical instruments. It may be a cheaper alternative initially, but we have found that some of these instruments break frequently, have little or no warranty, and cannot be fixed. Students who start on these instruments may be more likely to quit after having a frustrating experience. Our lesson teachers cannot help you fix a broken instrument but can help you contact one of the rental companies below.
Books and other required materials:
If you are renting from one of those two companies, everything is included in the rental cost and will be delivered with your instrument.
All students must have the Tradition of Excellence Book 1 for their instrument. They can be found on Amazon.
Clarinets and Saxophones MUST have extra reeds - ordering a box of 10 should be sufficient for the year. (I recommend the Rico brand)
Trumpets, Trombones, and French Horns need valve oil and slide grease. Trombones should have a small empty spray bottle.
