8 Red Welcome Letter:

Dear Families,

Welcome to Team 8 Red! We hope that you’ve enjoyed a restful and restorative summer. Before your students join us next week, we wanted to take this opportunity to share some important information about our team.

We as educators believe strongly that grades are not the only story of an eighth grader’s experience in our classrooms; we take pride in forming meaningful relationships with our students, encouraging learning for the sake of learning, and valuing the process of education over the end result. We hope that you will partner with us in our mission to foster a growth mindset on our team where learning from experience is more important than summative results.

We believe in open communication between teachers, students, and their families. Once the year begins, please encourage your children to speak directly with their teachers if and when they need support. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us via email, and we will get back to you in a timely fashion.

All of us will be using Google Classroom this year, and we’ll use a single team Google Doc linked below to help families keep track of current and upcoming homework and assessments.

As a team, we meet on a regular basis during the week, planning team activities and discussing how we can best meet the needs of our students. Some of this time is also set aside to meet virtually with parents or guardians as the need arises. If you would like to schedule a team meeting for any reason during the upcoming school year, please contact Christine Hanley in the Counseling Office.
