Station # 5 - Organize It!

Science has a language of its own.

This can sometimes make scientific writing seem like a foreign language. But in fact, these terms have very specific meanings, that allow scientific communication to be more clear once you know the language. Understanding the prefixes and suffixes gives us a way to translate the words meaning.

Directions:

1. You will need 1 set of prefix and suffix cards for your group.
2. Each card has the prefix/suffix and what it means.
3. In your answer sheet is a list of science terms we will be using this year. Based on the prefix and/or suffix in the word, determine what it means. Write your definition on the answer sheet. If you have time, come up with some additional words and their meanings using the cards.
