Overview
Abraar Elementary School is currently recruiting for a Long-term Supply Teacher for immediate hire.
Position Title: Long-term Supply Teacher (LTO)
Location: Abraar Elementary School, 70 Fieldrow Street, Ottawa, ON
Status: Full-time
Reports to: Principal
Minimum Qualifications
University Degree in Education or related field
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
Desirable Qualifications
Teaching qualification; priority for members of Ontario College of Teachers (Asset)
Two years of teaching experience.
Sound knowledge and practice of Islamic faith
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
Strong research and teaching skills
Interpersonal skills with an emphasis on compassion, patience and professionalism
Ability to work within a team, with integrity, enthusiasm, initiative and confidence
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare course long range plan, unit plans and homework materials
Prepare lesson plans with clear objectives that follow Ontario curriculum standards
Participate in professional development conferences and activities.
Present materials in a logical manner and in appropriate quantities
Maintain appropriate standards of behaviour, mutual respect, and safety within classroom
Incorporate appropriate technology and media in lesson planning
Formal and informal ongoing assessment of students, including report cards, progress reports and marking
Integrate social responsibility and kindness into daily teaching and routines
Perform other related duties as required
Compensation
Starting salary range depends upon education and experience. Medical and dental benefits, tuition discounts for children enrolled at Abraar Elementary or Abraar Secondary Schools, personal time off, long term disability, and life Insurance will be offered.
