ABIS Rain Day Guidelines

Planning

• All teachers and staff will be available and conducting their work Sunday – Thursday is 8.00 AM – 3.00 PM.

• Teachers will be available during school hours to support students and respond to student and parent inquiries.

• Teachers will check in and provide learning activities according to the timetable.

• Parents are encouraged to be in the same room as their child during the Grade lessons for lower primary.

Online Structure Guidelines

• Teachers will be in class on time to greet students.

• Students are expected to arrive on time.

• Lesson Opening (5-10mins) – teachers face visible throughout the lesson

• The teacher will stay online in the google meet room throughout the lesson

• Lesson Closing – the teacher will be visible to the students in the class

• Teachers will not leave live classes before the students; the students will exit first.

Platforms

• Only Google Meet and Seesaw. No other platforms will be used.

Routines

• Attendance will be taken each morning and monitored throughout the day. Parents will be notified when absences are frequent or not explained.

If having connection difficulties:

1. Turn off the video and only use audio.

2. If you miss a lesson due to technical issues, please inform your teacher

 Online Tips for students

• Students are encouraged to wear their ABIS branded clothing while online.

• Be well lit: light in front of you, not behind you.

• Camera should be at or close to eye level by placing your laptop on a book or two to gain additional height (do not stare down or up into the camera).

• Always be centered on your screen.

• Always head and shoulders in the camera, do not get too close or too far away.

• Check your background is tidy and does not display personal items/photographs.

• Use a mic and earphones if it is noisy around you.

• Be very mindful of what is on your screen when you share it with others. Tabs: all personal tabs must be closed.

• Deactivate notifications from email/websites/services you subscribe to.

• As per ABIS’ mission and vision we will provide learning opportunities that challenge and inspire our students. Learning will be inquiry based, innovative and meet individuals needs.

• The amount and immediacy of feedback will enhance learning & understanding. 

 Contact with Teachers

• The teachers will be available to answer questions and queries via email. If you or your child is unsure of anything, please do not hesitate to send an email.

 School Attendance

One of the cornerstones of successful academic performance is regular attendance at school.

• Mandatory attendance is expected from all students on all calendared school days. 

• Attendance is taken each day at 8:00 AM.  Parents are requested to inform the school before 8:00 AM if a child will be absent. Medical conditions will be taken into account if the necessary supporting documents from medical authorities have been provided to the school.

• Students who miss lessons will be marked absent on attendance and parents will be emailed to advise.
