Litter is any kind of trash thrown in small amounts, especially in places where it doesn’t belong. With time, it heaps up. It costs millions of dollars annually in cleanup. It doesn't look good in the area where there is a lot of litter. When you litter, the trash you throw gets blown to the ocean and then it harms the sea animals. It end ups harming you.
Oil spills happen in the ocean but oil can spills can happen on land as well. Oil spills are really damaging . Some animals die from oil spills. Penguins are losing some feathers due to oils. People are rescuing penguins and giving them woolly jumpers to keep them warm. Oil kills and damages seabirds and marine animals.
Global warming has begun to affect the polar lands. The ozone layer above Antarctica has been made thinner because of man made chemicals. The temperatures are making the ice caps melt causing sea levels to rise. Polar bears, seals, penguins and other polar animals are losing their homes due to human’s selfishness. Scientists believe that half of Antarctica would be gone by 2100 if we don't start taking action now. If we use less energy it may slow down global warming. Scientists are coming up with hi-tech solutions that can help earth cool down again. For example huge mirrors to reflect the heat, or filling the atmosphere with tiny particles to block the sun and putting a giant mesh sheet to make a sun shade. But, to do that it would cost a lot of money.
