Welcome to Civics! This is my 20th year teaching in the Abington School District, including two years at the Junior High; however, like everyone else, I'm looking forward to the new challenges that we will face this coming year.
This year will be a little more challenging for me, because for my first 19 years I was an English teacher, and this is the first year that I will teach 100% social studies (fear not: I am certified by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to teach social studies for grades 7-12, and I taught a partial schedule of civics last year). My former career as an attorney has given me a unique insight into the systems of government at every level, and I truly enjoy interacting with my students as we try to figure out the workings of Washington, Harrisburg and city hall(s).
Education: Univ. of Chicago (A.B. '91, Russian Literature)
Univ. of Pennsylvania (J.D. '95, MSEd. '02)
Outside of class, I am the faculty advisor for the Ukrainian Students Association, and I am also a production assistant with our theater program.
In my regular life, I live with my wife and son in the Jenkintown area, along with our three rescued cats, Ricky, Otto and Agnes. Before moving to this area in 2019, I lived in the Italian Market section of South Philly, which turned me into a food snob for Mexican and red-gravy Italian food.
Please email me at auhps@abington.k12.pa.us if you have any questions or concerns. ***In your email, please make sure to tell me the first and last name of your student.
Thanks and take care!

Make sure you include your name (or your student's name) & class period, details about your concern/question, and how soon you need a reply. I will do my best to answer it by the end of the day.
