Hello! My name is Matt Tracey! I grew up in Abington and still live here today. I went to McKinley Elementary School, and graduated from Abington Senior High School in 2015. I studied Early Childhood Education at Holy Family University, where I graduated in 2019. I also played for their men's soccer program. While I was there, I student taught at Willow Hill Elementary School, another Abington elementary school! This will be my second year teaching at Highland after an absolutely fantastic first year.
I have 6 siblings (2 sisters and 4 brothers....don't feel too bad for my sisters!).
I love to play soccer and other sports like basketball, golf, football and baseball. I know almost everything about dance, because both of my sisters have been dancing their entire lives! I am a huge Philadelphia sports fan, even though most of them have not been doing too well. For the past 9 years I have worked with children at summer camps as well as coaching soccer! I also love to read and exercise. My favorite genre is historical fiction and over the summer I read a book about the American Revolution. I also enjoy going to the mountains, the beach, and fishing. I tried many new board games over the summer too!
My 5th grade teacher is the reason I became an educator. The care, excitement and energy he showed everyday made me love learning. I have been fortunate enough to have had many amazing teachers in my life that have all showed me what it means to be a teacher. Furthermore, going to school in Abington, I know that excellence is the standard. Together, we are going to have splendid year filled with so much learning and fun. I am honored and delighted to be your teacher!
