I have been a teacher in the Abington School district since 2009. I began at the junior high as a biology teacher. I have been at the senior high since the 2012-2013 school year and currently am teaching APES and Human Body Systems: A PLTW course. I distinctly remember being asked in my interview where I wanted to be in my teaching career in the future; I am exactly where I said I wanted to be. Teaching is so fulfilling that I couldn't imagine doing anything else.
But I did do something before I became a teacher...for almost ten years I worked in a Neuropsychopharmacology lab (say that ten times fast) at Drexel University College of Medicine. I studied animal models of feeding behaviors, learning and addiction; my work is published (although you wont find it under 'Lips'). I truly believe that my experiences in scientific research have benefited my teaching style tremendously. In fact, I do my best to incorporate the scientific process as much as I can into my classroom.
I am happily married for 25 years and a mother of three beautiful children. We also have a dog named Murphy who is spoiled beyond belief. The things I like to do when I am not teaching include crocheting, cooking and reading.
