- Have conversations with your child every day to build oral language
- Tell stories
- Talk about books while reading
- Involve your child in daily activities at home
- Play guessing games
- Play I-Spy
- Read a variety of books to expose children to new vocabulary
- Help your child create a vocabulary journal (tips in link below)
- When choosing books to read aloud to your child, select more challenging books to expose them to higher level vocabulary
- Discuss unfamiliar words
- Classify and group objects while naming them (i.e.garden words: shovel, soil, flower)
