Instrument Care

Make sure you follow these tips about your instrument. Remember, your bow is just as important as your instrument.

1. When you are not playing your instrument, keep it stored properly in its case with the latches closed at room temperature. Do not leave your instrument in your parent’s car for a long period of time.

2. Only you and music teachers are permitted to touch your instrument. Do not let anyone touch it that does not know how to properly care for it.

3. Have clean hands before you play your instrument.

4. Keep food and drink away from your instrument.

5. Periodically clean off any dust or fingerprints from your instrument with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use furniture polish or anything else that is not made for cleaning string instruments.

6. Never touch your rosin or the hair of your bow with your hands.

7. Do not try to fix your instrument! If you think something is wrong with it, please let your string teacher know as soon as possible.
