2-Factor Authentication Instructions
2-Factor Authentication
2-Step Verification is exactly what it sounds like - a second step needed when logging in to your account.
With 2-Step Verification, you’ll protect your account with both your password and your phone (or an app or an image).
It is mandated by most professional organizations and businesses so that their information is secure.
It is being enforced by more schools now to keep sensitive information secure and to prevent unauthorized access.
Most school insurance companies require 2-Factor Authentication to cover districts in case of a security incident.
You don’t want your account to be the one that is hacked and possibly leak information or initiate a cyber attack on our school network or devices!
Authentication Methods
Mobile Authenticator (Recommended - push notification)
Mobile SMS (text code sent to a mobile device)
Voice Call to Phone (receive a voice call on your phone)
Alternate Email (verify with a different email address)
Image (identify an image personal to you)
For one of the authenticator methods (Mobile Authenticator), you need an app on your smartphone. The app on the smartphone generates a new code every 30 seconds without the need for an internet connection. You type in the code your app generates as part of the login process.
