Tetzlaff is the only middle school in ABCUSD that offers Introduction to Medical Careers as an elective. This elective is an option for our 8th grade students and will meet the introductory requirement for the medical pathways at our feeder high schools. Students in this elective often times participate in wrapping and prepping high school students for athletic competitions. This is an academically rigorous course that will provide a foundation for students that are interested seeking careers in the medical profession.
Introduction to Medical Careers focuses on the healthcare environment and the health care team and delivery systems. Students will learn about legal responsibilities, ethical issues, safety, infection control, communication, interpersonal behaviors, wellness, and disease. In addition, students will be introduced to the multiple careers in medicine (i.e. Medical Doctor, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Chiropractor, Acupuncturist, Nurse, Nutritionist, Medical/Physical therapy/Occupational assistants, Emergency Technician, Pharmacy Technician).
