AVID

Advancement Via Individual Determination is designed to increase school-wide learning and performance. The mission of AVID is to ensure that all students, particularly underrepresented student groups, are capable of completing a college path. Students will be challenged to succeed in a rigorous curriculum, enter mainstream activities of the school, increase their enrollment in 4-year colleges, and become educated and responsible participants and leaders in a democratic society. 

AVID's WICOR (Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, Reading strategies) and organized note taking strategies are emphasized schoolwide. Students benefit from having 2 days of in person tutorials to support their academic classes. Students will have opportunities to visit UC/CSU, private universities and junior college as an AVID student.
