Tanea is a pediatric oncology nurse practitioner at a children's hospital, and has been working in the medical field for many years. She started volunteering with the PTA when her oldest child, now a Niemes alumni, was in kindergarten, and has served as a board member multiple times. This will be her last year as a Wildcat parent, as her youngest is currently a 6th grader in the dual immersion program.
Aside from her volunteer duties at Niemes, she enjoys reading historical fiction and Stephen King books, and also likes to bake. She especially loves traveling to new places to experience different foods and cultures. The rest of her time is spent chasing around her pet bunny and Boxer puppies, who are always in trouble but too cute to stay mad at for long.
Kathy has been working in the travel industry for 20 years and owns her own travel business. Last year as PTA President, she used her business and management skills to lead Niemes through two successful fundraisers and the highest number of members in Niemes PTA history. This year as Executive Vice President, she hopes to break that membership record!
She is the mother of three including two Niemes dual-immersion students and one middle schooler. She loves photography and photo editing and of course to travel. In addition to all her volunteer hours at Niemes, she works part time as a substitute teacher at ABC.
Niki Cornejo is a Nuclear Medicine Technologist at a hospital in Whittier. She began her career in healthcare over 20 years ago. As a child she always wanted to help nurse everyone back to health. She graduated high school at a young 16 years of age and entered nursing school shortly after, eventually made her way into different healthcare professions and finally found her calling in Nuclear Medicine. As part of her profession she not only cares and advocates for her patients but always has a lot of careful documentation to keep track of from her department.
Niki has one son in third grade in the dual language program. As a single mom she treasures every moment with her son. She has been a volunteer at Niemes since preschool and tries her best to stay involved with her son's school. She and her son love going to the movies, music, dancing, hiking, and all outdoors.
Jenifer is a proud mom of two. Her son is a current 5th grader in the dual language program. Her daughter is happy to be a Niemes Alumni and promoted from the dual language program. Jenifer has been volunteering as a chair or an officer of the Niemes PTA for the past 8 years. She is excited to serve as the parliamentarian this year. Jenifer hopes to see you and your family at the Niemes PTA events throughout the year.
When she is not volunteering at Niemes, Jenifer is an educator who is passionate about neurodiversity in learners and mental health and wellness. She loves spending as much time as possible with family and friends, as well as baking, traveling, and spending time at the beach.
Anitza is a senior manager of web and social media at a local non-profit attraction/facility. She is an experienced digital community builder who loves using her skills for the greater good—which makes her a great asset in her second year with the board, this year as Niemes PTA’s historian and social media manager.
When she isn’t cheering on her TK’er and third grade dual immersion kid in whatever stickball season we're in, you can find her gardening, playing on her Switch, rooting for the Dodgers, playing in water, or jumping into a new crafty hobby that requires buying specialized equipment that she will only use one time.
Mrs. Jimenez is the proud principal of Niemes Elementary. This is her 15th year as principal of our amazing Environmental & Technology Magnet School with a Spanish Dual Immersion program. Mrs. Jimenez has a strong rapport with our PTA to support school and community initiatives. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Long Beach State in History, and two Master Degrees from the University of La Verne. She is currently in the last year of her doctoral program from ULV in Organizational Leadership. With 26 years of bilingual educational experience, she has had the unique opportunity to work in several capacities to serve communities, districts, staffs, and most importantly students.
Mrs. Jimenez, and her husband enjoy raising their three children ages 15, and 8-year old twins. Her hobbies include family time, vacationing, crafting, all things technology, and holistic wellness. Wether personally or professionally, Mrs. Jimenez’ aspirational goal is to: “Inspire and Educate the Future… Creatively and Innovatively"
Ms. Nunes has been in education for 17 years as an elementary teacher, middle school math teacher, and high school math teacher. Her knowledge of the education system makes her a great advocate for students and families.
In her free time, she loves to do anything that involves nature. She loves hiking with her German shepherd, being out on the water, or hanging out by the pool. She also loves hanging out with her family and friends creating memories.
