Timesaver: The Collaborative Creative Gallery (With a slide assigned to each student)
This New Year's episode identifies the telltale words and phrases that expose AI-generated content, from "delve" and "leverage" to the notorious em-dash that spreads like glitter. It highlights our district's push for transparency through AI Trust You extension and AI badging, encouraging honest acknowledgment of AI assistance. The episode champions preserving your authentic voice while using AI tools responsibly.
The AI Writing Detection Guide was created by first prompting Gemini for a list of frequently used AI words and phrases. I further iterated by requesting education-specific tells and then wanted to incorporate some strategies to edit your work with an HI+AI mindset. I took the generated content from Gemini and pasted that into Canva Code, prompting it to create an interactive website with drop-down menus and a specific color combination. After a few iterations, I had what you see by clicking the link below.

By placing content in your Google Classroom, you can automatically remove ads from YouTube. Leila Klyde shared the brilliant idea of placing the music she uses in class into its own separate Google Classroom. The result is an easily accessible, ad-free, personally curated list of music for her students.
I used this tricky workaround to create a Holiday Music playlist.
Using Gemini, we can instantly generate a rostered slide deck where every student is assigned a dedicated slide. This centralizes everyone’s creative work into one easy-to-access presentation, making it simple to share, review, and celebrate each other's ideas. Because we are working in a shared digital space, success depends on mutual respect and digital citizenship. Here are some rules to share with students:
Respect the "Land Borders": Only edit the slide that has your name on it. Think of your slide as your personal studio and your classmates' slides as theirs: never move, delete, or change anyone else’s work.
Practice Digital Kindness: If the teacher enables "Comments," ensure every piece of feedback is helpful, kind, and specific. If you wouldn't say it to someone’s face, don’t type it on their slide.
Content Must Be Classroom-Ready: All images, text, and links must be appropriate for school. If you are unsure if a piece of media is okay to use, ask your teacher.
Ownership and Attribution: Be proud of your original work! Use ABC's AI Trust You extension and Badging system to give credit if you use an AI-assistant.
Select Canvas from Gemini's Tools drop down menu when creating Google Slides.
